nourishing green smoothie and purple almond milk - day 20/30 april's shine

21/4/2013

Picture
Today V. wanted some purple milk and I had soaked almonds so we made some.
I used half of it in the green smoothie and half of it we had drank from and the rest put in the fridge (yum)

Purple almond milk:
We have made this before but if you do not want to go there and read, I will write here a short version:
  • raw almonds (one handful), soaked overnight in cleanest water we have at the moment; I used the brown ones today and I rinsed them 4-5 times, before I went to sleep and after waking up:-)
  • blended as smoothy as possible (we have a Vitamix so that is not hard to do) in 1l (cleanest) water;
  • separated the almond pulp (and put that in the fridge to use it later for some yum balls, as I have organized a "film evening" tonight) form the almond milk with a cheese cloth.

Then we (me and V. worked together this morning) blended the milk with:
  • frozen blueberries (lots),
  • 1 banana (not frozen);
  • 1 tb. spoon raw organic acacia honey;
  • a pinch of Himalayan pink salt (ok, two V. pinches:-D )
  • a bit of cinnamon (maybe 1/2 tb. spoon)

Green smoothie today:
  • 500ml purple milk above;
  • mint - around 50g leaves (I buy it in fresh bunches from the Farmer's market and I pluck the leaves from the stems, bathe them and only then use them coz I do not like any sand in my smoothies);
  • spinach leaves 100g (bathed yesterday and kept in a plastic box with lid in the fridge, the inside of the box covered with a paper towel);
  • 1 banana;
  • 2 lemons (peeled and halved)
  • some fresh ginger
  • water to fill (ya know, filtered and loved..);

enjoy!
