"Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something." Frederick Smith Still, there it is: we stick around where it is safe. It's called cognitive resonance. Is fear of failure holding you back? Get over it, because once you are willing to face your fears, you will head in the direction of your dreams. History is full of the people who pushed past their failures to finally achieve their goals. Think Thomas Edison - or Tesla, for that matter. They had so many "failures" on their way to inventing the lightbulb or other great machines that help us today everyday. However, they reframed "failures" and considered them part the path that finally led them to success. Have you ever said that to yourself? Most of us have, but few of us ever begin to do what we love. We are often stuck and overwhelmed by our present circumstances and have no idea how to move forward. Worse yet, most of us don't even know what we like and want. You surely understand what I am saying. What if you were to begin the search for your own calling and life purpose? The journey begins with just a single step into your innate wisdom. Take that step! "We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop." Mother Theresa Do any of us ever feel good enough, smart enough, thin enough, beautiful enough? It seems to takes forever to build our self esteem and to recognize our gifts. We are normally stopped, not by ourselves, but by our own critical judgments. Have you ever thought about this? What would happen if you walked into a restaurant and heard two people talking to each other in the same way you sometimes (we hope not always!) talk to yourself? Wouldn't you be appalled? Isn’t now the time that you stop putting yourself down but start considering your strengths and shut down the critical voices in your head? "Unlike my theory about how outgoing or shy we are, introversion and extroversion actually relate to where we get our energy from. Or in other words, how we recharge our brains. Introverts (or those of us with introverted tendencies) tend to recharge by spending time alone. They lose energy from being around people for long periods of time, particularly large crowds. Extroverts, on the other hand, gain energy from other people. Extroverts actually find their energy is sapped when they spend too much time alone. They recharge by being social. Ambiverts exhibit both extroverted and introverted tendencies. This means that they generally enjoy being around people, but after a long time this will start to drain them. Similarly, they enjoy solitude and quiet, but not for too long. Ambiverts recharge their energy levels with a mixture of social interaction and alone time.” Beth Belle Cooper "Redefine success beyond the first two metrics of money and power to include well-being, wisdom, and our ability to wonder and to give back." Arianna Huffington What is your definition for your success? Shine Business's vision is in alignment with Arianna's quote. We believe money and power, as well as success as you may define it, will follow after first exploring and discovering what it is you were born to do. It is not easy to achieve clarity. So often we listen to what others say about us and to our own critical voices and thus are stuck and lose our way. It takes courage and commitment to turn off those voices and to look deeply into oneself and find the answers. But we know you can do this! "Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.” Margaret Young Do you know your true colors? Once you are clear on that, you will be able to create a life of success not only for yourself but for others as well. Too many of us rush into what we can do to create money rather than discovering first who we really are and what we want to be. Often, it is not our dream but that of our family or society that we are blindly following. Instead of following the path that was designed by someone else, ask yourself these questions: Ioana Over the past months, I have been delighted to have someone to bounce ideas off. I find that having a partner allows me to think and reach beyond my areas of comfort and to explore new ideas. The fact that we are both artists and value new ways of looking and doing things is exciting to me. I wanted to record some of our thoughts and conversations over the since May. So much has happened since then. I have kept notes of our journey thus far and want to post snippets of our process both in video and also in writing. Ioana, The TED video you sent me is awesome! It is a source of great inspiration. I agree that we should share the video with our community. Like you, I feel that Shine Business has a mission to support women to be seen, heard and truly themselves. Too many women have spent their lives being good “slaves.” Instead of following our dreams, we have been doing what others expected of us. Through support and encouragement of others, I have found the confidence to pursue my own dreams and want to help other women do the same. From: Carmen lund Subject: Join the Conversation #1 To: Ioana Hi Ioana, So many ideas are whirling around in my head. I am so excited about our plans to partner and launch Shine Business! (note from Ioana, we named our first project Wholehearted Preneur, later it became Shine Business) Meeting you during the 30 Day Video Challenge was so synchronistic. For years I have worked alone on many different creative endeavors, but I was always looking to find a partner to work with who shared my vision. However, I did not expect the universe to find me a partner from Holland. When I saw your videos, I was immediately drawn to what you had to say and to the sincerity and integrity in your messages. I felt a connection to you and wanted to learn more about you. During our first conversation via Skype, I could not believe just how much we had in common. Our thinking and interests are in sync. It seems a natural to team up with you to plant a new business. I think our vision is a powerful one. Women need a community where they are heard and supported. Women usually spend years taking care of others besides themselves. I love the idea of our creating a nurturing safe space for them to find affirmation and encouragement to grow and create their dreams. So, here is my question to you. As we begin this journey together, would you be willing to begin our conversations via email to record follow our process to bring Wholehearted Preneur from a dream into reality?
