I am so so happy and excited to tell you: it's out and ready!

Ta ta raaa taaaaa!

My (free) Shiny book of Green Smoothies is ready for download.

It's totally yours, for free.

It's based entirely on my own experience of 3 plus years drinking at least 1l green smoothie every day.

I wrote it short and to the point so that if you and/or a friend want to start with drinking green smoothies (or want to know why that would be good for you), you could read it in a day and have a strong base for whatever your decision will be, yay or nay.

Ok, I have to admit, I am slightly for Green Smoothies :-)

today again a purslane smoothie:

  • purslane 150g; (bathed);
  • celery - 5 stems (bathed and in small pieces);
  • 2 big -huge - apple (core and all)
  • 1 lemon (peeled and cut in halves)
  • water to fill;

I also added 1 big table spoon of Spirulina.

.. and to one jar I added some Sunwarrior protein and Astragalus.

Today I was experimenting a bit..
(really? I never do that??!!) :-)

  • quinoa milk (quinoa left in water overnight, washed in the morning and left to sprout one more day, mixed with water, strained - go here for an example of other milk making);
  • V. wanted very purple milk so we did that one first (sorry, drank it before I could make a picture of it, but it was really really dark purple):  with 250g blue berries,
  • a bit of honey (I put some more in his glass purple milk)
  • a bit of salt
  • some cinnamon (1 tea spoon)

I used the purple milk as a base for the green smoothie:
  • 1l very purple quinoa milk;
  • cilantro - one big bunch - maybe 150g;
  • baby lettuce - 150 g;
  • 1 lemon - peeled and cut into pieces;
  • 1 apple - cut into pieces with core, peel and everything;
  • some water to fill the Vitamix;
  • spirulina - one heaping spoon.

today's green smoothie:
  • one big cucumber (sliced)
  • 2 lemons (peeled and sliced)
  • some stevia leaves (because I had plucked my stevia plant) (not enough to have a significant taste influence but I like stevia leaves aroma)
  • some mint leaves I had left
  • 3 celery sticks (cut) (also leftovers:-)
  • 150 spinach (today is market day and I did not have more than that any more)
  • ginger (2 cm)
  • water (filtered and loved)

This one is a bit more sour than usual so if you want a sweeter one, act accordingly:-)

Today's green elixir is made of:
  • cucumber 1/2 big one
  • spinach 300g 
  • spirulina 1 heaping tb. spoon;
  • 1 lemon (peeled)
  • 1 orange (peeled)
  • 1 pear with all (really soft and sweet one)
  • water (filtered and loved)
  • seeds from one pomegranate fruit.
  • some mint

Today I wanted to drink it as is. 
Loved the taste and the color.  If you do not have / add the spiruline it will be reddish-er).

I made some almond milk today (see here)..
(and if you have not made almond milk yet, you can see me here making it)..

So from the milk I had some raw almond pulp left - from the 300g soaked almonds I used for the milk. 

Further I used:(.. a wooden spoon.. haha)
  • turmeric (1 heaping tb. spoon);
  • lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon);
  • olive oil (10 tb spoons)
  • salted fresh nori (I buy them at the organic store) (no idea about quantities here..

When I asked today what kind of milk he wants (because I had almonds soaking over night), V. answered: "apple milk"..

Wow. haven't made that one before:-)

But because I am good at inventing recipes (see also the next blog post!!) I immediately saw in my mind what I wanted to put in it:-)

Apple milk:
  • almond milk 1.5l - look here how to make one if you need to - and than come right back for the rest of the recipe!:-);
  • bitsy bit of salt (pink Himalayan);
  • one tea spoon cinnamon;
  • one heaping spoon honey;
  • 2 bananas.. peeled:-);
  • 2 soft apples (not peeled, with seeds & all) (cut);
  • a decent piece of ginger (but not too big cause V. does not enjoy it much, something like 1.5cm cubic);
  • lecithin (1 heaping tb. spoon)

green smoothie march 1st (martisor!)
Today:
  • 1/2 cucumber;
  • ~200g (green) chard
  • 1 lemon peeled and sliced
  • 1 bergamot lemon peeled and sliced
  • 1 (red) orange peeled and sliced
  • water (filtered and loved) to fill the Vitamix (around 1l)

You can also add (I did! :-D ):
  • probiotica 2 tb,spoon 
  • astragalus 1 tb. spoon
  • raw cacao 2 tb spoons
  • SunWarrior protein (natural) 1 tb spoon
  • red maca (1 tb spoon)

The yogurt I made yesterday (from cashews, check it out) was super yummy and had (understandably, because I did not strain any pulp out of it) considerably less whey.

It was so rich that I could not eat it all like I mostly do:-)





So I put it in my today's green smoothie:
  • 400ml cashew yogurt (made yesterday)
  • 300ml rest green smoothie from yesterday

Wil je het recept voor vegetarische melk in het Nederlands? kijk hier.

Today I soaked cashews.
Lots of them because I wanted to make some thick yogurt.

The result is what you see on the far left and the far right.

The middle green was a left over from the day before.




How I have made it:
  • about 400 g soaked over night cashews (cover well with water because the swell)
  • 1 l water filtered and loved.
